D.A.R.E. Graduation

Zach had his D.A.R.E. graduation this last Saturday. Its a program that the school does for all fifth graders. The D.A.R.E. officer comes to the school and teaches them once a week about the effects of drugs and alcohol on their bodies. They also teach them about Internet safety. When the course is done they have a graduation for all the kids. The guest speaker for their graduation was Glenn Beck. It was a really neat program for everyone. We're proud of Zach for taking the challenge to never do drugs, drink alcohol, or smoke tobacco--Way to go Zach!

This a picture of Zach right after he got his certificate and shook Glenn Beck's hand. He is on the left of Glenn on his way back to his seat.

Our Easter

I hope that all of you had a great Easter holiday! For some reason, I hate coloring eggs! Every year I manage to muster enough patience to help the kids color eggs. Not sure why I don't like it--maybe its the fighting over who get to do what color when, or the clean up afterwards, or the color that bleeds onto the eggs (grosses me out), or what to do with all those hardboiled eggs--we did 18 this year. Ok, so maybe I can think of why I don't like it. That's why I had to take some pictures to document my determination that my kids do one fun thing for Easter.

Nate and everyone are anxiously waiting for their eggs to be just the right shade

Haley and Kacie show off their "sisters" Easter dresses--its so fun!

Here is just part of the egg family that was brought to life at our house. I think I see some resemblance to our own family!

Gettin' Jiggy!

Nate and Kacie were really gettin' down last night. I don't know what it was but Kacie was cracking me up so bad. I was laughing so hard I was crying! After looking back on the video it doesn't seem so funny anymore. But, last night she had me in tears! One reason she was so funny is because she insisted on putting a bandaid on her bottom lip after she bumped it. I don't know that you can see it very well in the video, but it looked so funny! I hope this isn't one of those "you had to be there to appreciate it" moments. Anyway, just thought I'd share one of our goofy family moments.

Random Thoughts

I walked into Zach's bathroom the other day and saw this by his sink. It cracked me up. He broke the cup I bought for his toothbrush and toothpaste on Saturday. I guess he thought he would improvise and be really resourceful. He found a new container to store his things in. I hope he isn't too broken hearted when I tell him that isn't going to fly. He probably gets his interior decorating talent from me! I know this may seem lame, but I got a good laugh out of it when I saw it!

Nate made me laugh yesterday when I pointed to his eyebrows and asked him--what are those? His reply was--eye-staches!

A few reasons why I like Wednesdays:

1. No piano, gymnastics, basketball, violin or any other place I need to be.

2. At noon you can start the countdown to the weekend--its all down hill from there!

3. My laundry is down to 3 loads instead of the 5 I do on Mondays.

4. Schwans's day! If I have planned poorly for dinner--no problem!

Have a great Wednesday!!

Rock A Bye Kacie

This is one tired little girl. Kacie asked me for the crayons to color, so I got them out for her. I was at the computer and turned around to find her asleep on the bar chair. She must have put all she had into her coloring and it wore her out! I have often found my kids asleep in the weirdest places. How can kids fall asleep in the strangest places/positions? I was just hoping she wouldn't roll off before I got this picture. Good night Kacie!
