First Day of School 2011

First day of school for the kids today. None of them were that excited to start back up. "too much work" they all said--this is going to be good for them! :) I guess I was too easy on them this summer. Next year we'll see if we can't give them more chores so that school seems like a vacation!

One finger for each year of school they are entering
I have to treasure pictures like this because getting all of them together for a picture with their hair combed and looking sharp comes few and far between! Love my kiddos!

Ponderosa State Park

I took Haley, Nate and Kacie to McCall where we camped at Ponderosa State Park with my sister, Laura. It was a fun time and it was good to be in the mountains smelling fresh pine air!

Here was are. Our tent is behind us. Not bad for a couple of women!
We spent one day at Payette Lake. There were some tiny fish swimming around the shore and Nate was determined to catch one. He spent the whole time there trying to catch on in his net. He never did get one but you have to admire his determination

The girls playing around the water.
We played some horse shoes. After a while Kacie decided that if she stood really close she could get a ringer every time!
Nate was a little more up for the challenge. He loved the horse shoes!

Haley's sand creation

Laura has a cool camping hammock that folds up small and fits in a little bag--it was great!
It was a beautiful place and we are so glad we got to go!

Girls!

Haley and Kacie (and 4 of Debi's girls) spent a week at Grandma Root's in Caldwell. They did so many fun things! There days were packed with activities and they loved it! I went to pick them up at the end of the week and was able to go to Roaring Springs with them--such a great time!

I love this picture of them with grandpa Root hanging out in the back yard.
Aunt Angela's Aunt Connie has a pool in her back yard and they were able to go swimming a few times while there. They love to swim so this was a blast for them.
A couple of "out of place" pictures. Haley is in a 4-h group that does chickens. They made a float for the 4th of July parade and Haley got to ride on it--she loved that. Haley keeps her chicken at her friend Holly's house (sitting next to Haley). That works out great for us!
We went to Rigby Lake while Debbie was visiting with Brigit and Katie. Kacie and Ethan really wanted to go out in the raft. Kacie sat in the boat until I agreed to take her for a ride. We had a great time and wonder why we haven't been out there sooner!

Cedar Badge 2011

Zach and Brayden attended Cedar Badge this year. It is a national youth leadership training camp. Zach went as a junior staffer and Brayden as a participant. The parents are invited the last day to a graduation ceremony.

My two scouters! Check out the cool belt buckle Zach has that they gave the staff.
Zach showing his cool staff that was carved by one of the scout masters.

Zach in line giving hugs to all the people in his troop.

Zach's troop was called Roosevelt. Here is the whole group. They had a great time and each learned a lot.

Happy Birthday Kacie!

I realize Kacie's birthday was over 2 months ago, but I am feeling grateful this post even made it on the blog.

Kacie picked out her own cake. I will admit that if I was even a little good at homemade cakes I would do those. But since I am not, and since I LOVE the frosting on store bought cakes, we do those.

I guess Nate thought she needed a little help with that extra finger.

Grandma Robinson is always so generous and thoughtful. She got Kacie this adorable salon chair for her American Girl doll and made her an equally adorable quilt.
One of the games at Kacie's party was to see who could keep a balloon in the air the longest.
And an oldie but goodie, pin the tale on the donkey. You don't have to get fancy for kids, they love the easy classics!
A couple of her gifts. Kacie keeps us on our toes for sure! We love her so much. Maybe now that she's 6 and will be in school all day I'll have more time to blog . . . .maybe.
